Confessional

The Confessional is a tensile fabric with a customized interactive system woven into its surface. Stretched across the monocoque shell of the RolyPolygon, the Confessional is a soft coccoon that can be customized - in this case, a Robert Motherwell graphic. Stitched into its surface is a matrix of LED lights, flex sensors, and speakers controlled by a microprocessor. For this prototype, within the context of the Minister series, the occupant may choose different interactive behaviors: to whisper their secrets and desires in anonymity, as often seen in the films of Wong Kar Wai, or to communicate with others. As they speak and gesture, the pods fill with light and their voices may broadcast wirelessly to other RolyPolygons, creating a community among clustered cocoons near or far away.
