CONIC ASSEMBLIES

A series of studies in bent wood for product design. Each study examines degrees of curvature and material thickness. The shells are a result of flex trained into predictive shapes.

Constraining them to non-native cubic boundaries produce unusual contiguous volumes and curvature discontinuities. Some of these curves and surfaces are traced onto the transparent bounding box, with some traces misaligned.

What emerges are architectural characters with base and crown-like bodies that produce different readings when rotated in another orientation.
